    Tag: Prompt Switch

A Prompt Switch is a super elegant training technique for getting a handle on behaviors that are already happening or for changing cues.

If you realize that something reliable is causing a behavior (unconditioned stimulus) or something other than your cue is causing it, simply place your cue right before that stimulus and the dog will learn to pair the two and accept your cue as a nice replacement (conditioned stimulus).

Prompt Switching is a super handy technique that makes some of the most troublesome training situations very manageable.
