Throwing with Intent is throwing a disc to your dog with the intent to make them look good. Throwing the disc to promote a big leap, to hit the dog in stride on the run or throwing a disc that your dog is going to flip for 10 yards away, is the sign of a mature handler.

I’m pretty excited. We’ve got a video shoot today for foundational disc dog instruction. I’m finally going to be able to work Hops without fear of losing his ‘green-ness’.
Hops has been here for almost 10 days now, and I’ve been holding off because we’re going to do this shoot and I want to work with a green dog.

Wind Management is a tough skill for all discdoggers. It usually gets better with experience, but the time required to get that experience can be drastically reduced by understanding a few simple principles.
The Knife and the Sail
A disc in the wind can act either as a knife or a sail, and often does both at the same time. When a disc acts as a knife, it cuts through the wind and holds its position. The wind has very little effect on its flight. In order for the disc to act as a knife, there must be sufficient spin, and the rim must be the first part of the disc to be affected by the disc.
