Chase is an important concept for disc dog training. It can be used as a reinforcer or a signal to attract attention.
Most dogs are turned on by Chase, but some dogs find it more exciting or satisfying than biting and tugging toys or eating cookies. For some dogs it is THE cookie.
Chase is easy enough to reinforce with. A throw, a Roller, or a cued Bite that moves away from the dog and prey driven cuing can all be used as chase reinforcement.
Chase does not require that the dog get the toy. The action and opportunity the Chase is enough to motivate most dogs.
