Hi everyone,
After you make the stop in Denver for one of the best weekends of
Frisbee dog action, please try to save a few extra vacation days and
make it in for more World Class events.I have blocked 30 rooms at The Naperville Red Roof Inn for the UFO
Major ” Windy City K-9 Classic ” and AWI World Championships over
Labor Day weekend. What a weekend it will be.
First there will be a chance to add to your World Cup points towards
the title of UFO World Cup Overall Champion. Then Sunday, the
granddaddy of them all, ” The Ashley Whippet World Championship “.
Remember also that the official ” Ashley Whippet Museum” , will be
open on Monday morning so all of you can visit , sign in , and be
part of the archives and the history of our sport. ( donations of
disc and shirts are accepted. Just don’t tell the wife ). :-)The Red Roof Inn will be where most of the competitors will be
staying . There is free WI-Fi this year. These are the rates for the
weekend.
One bed, $64.99 + tax.
2 beds , $64.99 + tax. If adding a second person it is $69.99 + tax.
Standard King is also $64.99 + tax.
Business Kings, which includes a refrigerator , microwave. These
are $74.99 plus tax .

When you call in for your reservation, please use ” disc dog” to get
those rates , and ” B195disc10” as the block #. Those of you that
have reserved a room already, please CALL BACK and let them know you
are with our group. Their number is 630-369-2500.

Please ask for a ” goodie bag ” when you arrive, and let me know if
there are any issues. These rooms will go fast, so ” get er done “.

Throwing With Intent

Throwing with Intent is throwing a disc to your dog with the intent to make them look good. Throwing the disc to promote a big leap, to hit the dog in stride on the run or throwing a disc that your dog is going to flip for 10 yards away, is the sign of a mature handler.

Patron’s Choice: Shaping a Leaping Catch | Creating a Late Read

Reading the disc is a skill that astute dogs and humans pick up rather quickly. The float, the spin, and the speed can reliably be gauged and predicted after several reps. Of course this changes with wind, disc choice, and throwing ability but, generally speaking, the flight path of a disc is easily predicted.
